What Is a Travel Document?

A travel document is an official document issued to individuals who are unable to obtain a passport from their country of nationality. This may be due to loss of nationality, statelessness, displacement, or other humanitarian circumstances. Similar to a passport, a travel document serves as proof of identity and allows the holder to travel internationally.
